Maybe I would use this photo for my eBloggery profile picture. I like to take car photos, wear borderline ghetto hoop earrings, and I have transition lenses. Be my friend? Why is finding friends so difficult as an adult? I’m not talking about acquaintances you call friends. Those are easy to discover. Look around your place of work, church (if you have one), and community gatherings. I’m sure you’ll see lots of people you know on a first name basis, but that doesn’t mean you would call them last-minute because you’re dying to see a chick flick on a Sunday afternoon and you don’t want to go alone. I’ve been reading MWF Seeking BFF, and while I’m only a couple of [...]

Glamazon weekends are good for the soul.
{l-r: Lyndsey, me, Chelsea, Molly, Kelly} I may have told a tiny white lie in my 5 Things on a Friday post. I didn’t stay home and clean out my closet. I did that the previous weekend. Instead, I traveled to Chelsea’s house to pull off a 4-part surprise. Everything went SO well and she was completely surprised. All 4 times. Chelsea’s been having a rough time lately. I don’t like that. She’s my girl. One night a couple of weeks ago, I couldn’t sleep, so I texted Molly and said “We have to do something. Let’s visit Chelsea, but make it a surprise.” Molly, being the amazing friend she is, wholeheartedly agreed. We got Chelsea’s husband, sister, and mom [...]
Ten on Tuesday {via yours truly}
My best blog friend forever, Chelsea, has been hosting Ten on Tuesday for over 100 weeks. That’s pretty much incredible. You know what’s also incredible? That I haven’t managed to contribute a set of questions yet. Last week, as I was fighting insomnia, I thought of some really good questions at about 2am. At least I thought they were good at 2am. So I typed them up on my iPhone and sent them to Chelsea. My apologies that they are so random; I hope y’all have fun answering them! What are your pantry staples? Cereal, oatmeal (regular and flavored instant), cereal bars, basic baking stuff (flour, sugar, baking powder/soda, vanilla), chocolate chips, tea & coffee, tortilla chips, boxed rice and [...]
It’s not easy being a Glamazon.
Perhaps you remember my blog friend Chelsea. I’ve only mentioned her 9,675 times here on LfT. She is awesome for a lot of reasons, and one of those reasons is that her parents have an amazing home in Galveston, and they let us have a girls weekend there every year. Another reason is because she lets me send her hypochondriacal emails regarding my many illness, real and imagined, but I digress. Chelsea is tall (5’12″ – yes, that’s a real height), and has two tall friends, Lyndsey and Kelly. Last year, they were kind enough to invite me along on their girls weekend. (Click here to read last year’s post.) Since I am pretty tall myself (5’10″), our group has [...]
Guest Post – Pretty Shiny Sparkly
Happy Friday! I should be heading back to Texas very shortly, & to get ready for my reappearance in the Lone Star State, what better than a Texan-style fashion guide? Kristina from Pretty Shiny Sparkly is a fellow blonde Texan, & I adore her daily dose of pretty over on her corner of the internet. So put your high heels on & settle in, because y’all are about to be schooled, PSS-style. xo, LfT one, two, three, four, five, and six Howdy y’all. I’m PSS, a blog-friend (briend?) of Lauren’s, and I love fashion. No, really, I do. I actually live in the same city as LFT, but mysteriously have not yet had the pleasure of meeting her IRL. (We [...]
Guest Post – A Peine For Your Thoughts
Oh readers, you are in for such a treat. Taryn is one of my absolute favorite bloggers. The wit! The humor! The drama! I cannot get enough of A Peine For Your Thoughts. I hope all of you read this post and then go over and read as many of her old posts as you can handle in one day, and then I hope you all subscribe to her, and then I hope we all can get together for a giant blog sleepover. I have high hopes, you see? Well, it worked once before… but it did take the Pioneer Woman to bring us together. Anyway, please enjoy the below picture & post from my girl Taryn. And whatever you [...]
Guest Post – Natalie's Killer Cuisine
I’m in California this week, exploring San Francisco & drinking wine in Napa. But please don’t hate me; never have I felt more deserving of a break! So my lovely readers won’t get lonely, I’ve asked three of my favorite bloggers to hold down the fort for me. First up, meet Natalie! Anyone who knows me knows I love to eat. When selecting my guest bloggers for this week, I knew I had to get a true foodie to help me out. Natalie from Natalie’s Killer Cuisine is one of my favorite food bloggers. Delicious food, beautiful pictures, & easy-to-follow recipes. What could be simpler? So y’all, settle in & learn how make some of these. And then invite me [...]
Don't test these besties.
Remember the pictures I posted on Friday? Well, Chelsea asked if I had “butter in my brown sugar.” At first, I thought it was some sort of code, then I realized she was referring to this picture: And no, that’s not butter. They’re marshmallows. I read in Real Simple that if you put a few marshmallows in your brown sugar, it’ll stay soft & you won’t end up with the inevitable brick of brown sugar we who bake have become accustomed to. So grab some marshmallows & toss them, with your brown sugar, into an airtight canister. And put away your jack hammer. Speaking of things that need to be addressed: on Thursday night, I made blueberry muffins and chocolate [...]
Almost Done!
I’m back over at Roots & Rings today. Since I did so well with the Biggest Loser recap last week, Chelsea asked me to do it again this week. Typing while watching is always a challenge, so if it’s a mess, don’t blame me. Although I don’t know who you should blame if not me, but how about we blame Melissa, OK? Deal. Today is my FINAL day of the 30 Day Shred. It’s been a crazy month, & I can’t wait to tell you all about my experiences & results. Look for that post soon, maybe even Friday! Hope everyone is having a great week. Hallelujah for the mid-week; it’s all downhill from here! [image via]
I think I have too much Jillian in my life.
I had the honor of writing the Roots & Rings Biggest Loser post this week! Although, since I wrote it as I was watching, it’s pretty messy. I didn’t edit hardly at all, so please don’t judge me for any typos that may have slipped through the cracks. It was really fun to write. If you’re a Biggest Loser fan, check it out! In that same vein, I am on Day 23 of the 30 Day Shred (and Day 3 of Level 3). I’m so sore I can hardly move, which I guess is what happens when you bump it up to Level 3, AKA Torture City. I’ve had a few people ask some questions about the Shred, so I [...]
