I just got back from one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time, but more on that later this week. I wanted to do a quick post about a project I’ve been working on for the last month, Sage Magazine.
When I worked for the newspaper in small town East Texas earlier this year, the art director and I worked right next to each other. In the three months I was there, she and I really hit it off, and often joked back and forth about going into business together.
About two months ago, she emailed me with her idea for Sage Magazine. I agreed to contribute, but wasn’t 100% sure what my role would be.
About one month ago, I decided I wanted to be much more than a contributor. Pretty much overnight, I became the editor, content manager, and social media manager. I threw together a blog and started promoting the Facebook page like crazy. Then I rolled up my sleeves and got to working on the content — both creating and editing.
Let me just say, this is definitely our first time to do this. We knew it wasn’t going to be perfect. But we also knew that Lindsey really wanted to create and design a magazine, and I really love to write/edit/market. We managed to put together a beautiful, fun, 50-page magazine, and I’m proud of us. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Sage.
Some of my favorite ladies/sites contributed to this issue, including Goddess of Eats, Luxe Chandelier, and The Hair Bow Company. We’re already looking for contributors and advertisers for our next issue, which will be out October 1st. Email me if you’re interested in contributing to or advertising in the next issue of Sage.
And of course, here’s our first issue! Hope you enjoy it — click the cover to read it. You can also like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter. Thanks for reading!
