5 Things on a Friday {round 34}

// OPI’s Atomic Orange (in what may be one of the creepiest photos ever)

1 >> Wednesday night, I let the dogs outside to do their thing before bedtime. 10-15 minutes later, I opened the door, and Leia came in first. Immediately I yelled, “WHAT’S THAT SMELL?!” It smelled like Actual Death. I cornered her, and discovered she had been rolling in some sort of SOMETHING that smelled so bad I almost barfed. I had Michael go outside and get Pancho while I threw her in the bathtub. He brought Pancho in, and it was the same story with him. So I had to give them three baths each, FOR A TOTAL OF SIX BATHS, before they smelled normal again. Michael walked all over the yard with a flashlight and couldn’t see anything, but he could smell it. The next morning, the smell was gone. What could it have been? We had a lot of rain this week and the people who were here before us had a compost pile; could that have something to do with it? It was the worst smell ever. I just don’t want it to happen again. Also, why do dogs do that?!?! Disgrossting.

2 >> A friend and I are working on a project called Sage Magazine. It’s an online fashion and lifestyle magazine. Think social networking meets window shopping meets design. Lindsey is the creative brains behind the whole thing, and she’s responsible for the fabulous design and graphics. I’ll be doing the social media, as well as helping with and contributing to the editorial content. Anyway, if you’re interested in getting updates and learning more, visit the Sage Magazine Facebook page. I’m really excited about this project and am sure I’ll be blogging more about this soon.

3 >> In RE: to my post about housewares from earlier this week, my mom sent me this text:

Hey Lauren,
Not sure where you found that pic of the 50′s woman, but she looks like you!!!
I love that post, I have several of everything except the place mats. :)
I’m going shopping! LOL!
Not sure if I have flutes or not, probably somewhere?
I can count at least 10 pitchers, I guess that makes me crazy…
I counted 7 platters… plus Christmas stuff… I have issues. :(
Guess what? I even have the chip and dip thing… with Roosters on it…
which brings up my other obsession. You better hurry and get that degree!
HaHa. Fun stuff.
love,
MOM

And then I died laughing. My mom is the cutest.

4 >> Last Saturday, I got a manicure and pedicure with my MIL. Usually, even if I get a professional manicure, it chips in the next couple of days. But this one was still going strong 4 days later. Yesterday it finally started to chip, which means it lasted 5 days. I was unreasonably sad. I was definitely getting some sort of weird satisfaction every day it didn’t chip. I might need to get a life. Did I mention it was only a $10 manicure? Yep, new favorite nail place.

5 >> If you haven’t seen this yet, stop everything you’re doing and watch it. It’s the best thing I’ve seen in a long time.

Happy weekend!

Love the polish color! And this is semi-creepy, but you have nice feet. I am not a weird foot person, I just notice nice feet because I have ugly toes, ha! Also-I love how your mom writes a text like a letter. Too cute :)

Have you ever tried a shellac manicure? They are supposed to last around 2 weeks and NOT chip at all. The only thing to note is you can’t apply or remove shellac polish yourself… there’s a special process they can only do in the salon. :-)

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Proposal Video!

That photo IS kind of a trip, but I love the color! :) That video is so sweet. I think I would die of embarrassment if someone did something like that for me, but I love watching other people be so surprised!

Supposedly gel manicures last 2 weeks. You can get the stuff to do it at home from Walmart or target. It’s $50 I think for the kits. I would do it but as I have enough money invested in traditional polishes to open my own salon I shan’t be purchasing said kit. Did all of that from your mom come through as one text?!

Your dogs roll in nasty stuff to cover their real scent…..You know, so the big bad chihuahua down the block won’t recognize them. It goes back to cave dog days! I always tell mine that “we” can still recognize them. As far as the disapearance of said dead thing… maybe the chihuahua carried it off! LOL!

I read #1 and I can’t stop singing who let the dogs out.
