Hi. So yeah, I fell off the face of the earth last week. Or, rather, I fell off the face of Louisiana and back to Texas for a visit.
I fully intended to blog, but I got wrapped up in meetings, spending time with friends and family, and appointments. I got my hair done and my teeth cleaned. We made a belated Father’s Day feast for my dad. I met folks for lunch and drinks and dinner and ice cream. My sister and I watched too much reality TV. I went shopping with my mom. Even though it was a trip to get things done, it was nice to treat it like a mini-vacation of sorts and soak up a little time with some of my favorite people in Texas.

I know it’s hard to believe, but she’s old enough to be my mom.

It was great to be back in Texas, but I missed my husband and, dare I say it, my life here in Lafayette. Texas will always be my heart, but for now, Louisiana is my home. I have to admit, I got a little wistful as I crossed the state line, and might have shed a few tears. It’s just so weird, you guys. But any anxiety I had was erased when I drove up to my new home and was greeted by a tall, handsome man and two overjoyed dogs. Right now, my life is here, with them. And it’s going to be really good, once I get past the awkward, just-settled-in stage. I spent the better part of the drive listening to The Eagles station on Pandora, and Journey’s Faithfully is a song I have always loved; the lyrics are particularly meaningful right now.
Anyway, I’m back this week, feeling refreshed and ready to get things done. First up, I’m starting a new project tomorrow. I hope some of you will join me. Basically, I’m tired of half-assing the whole diet and exercise thing and I figured the only way to hold myself accountable would be to do a weekly posting on here and invite y’all to participate. Whether you have 5 pounds to lose or 50, this will be a fun and inspirational way for us to cheer one another on and keep ourselves on track. If you’re interested, check back for all the details tomorrow. I’m excited to get started.

It sounds like you had a great time back in Texas! I completely agree with you and the healthy eating/exercising! I always come up with stupid excuses about not having enough time to work out, Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred is 20 minutes!
As the Pin on Pinterest say’s “If you’re tired of starting over, stop giving up!”

Can I steal your dog-niece? I think that Charlee would be a great asset to the Chihuahua farm.

I miss you already! Can’t wait to come visit!

I feel that same way every time I cross the state line. Happy to be heading home but sad to leave my family behind in Texas. You are not alone! :)

Your trip sounds perfect. There really is nothing better than spending time with friends and family, even when you’re just relaxing and watching bad tv or running errands! It’s great that your heart is just a drive away from your home :)

Really is there anything that highlights and a good haircut CANNOT fix? Some of my friends swear by their running map tracker app…

Not sure how often you might hear it, but since it’s new to me, I figured I’d share. :) Your sister looks JUST like Kristin Davis from SATC!
