About the photo: Pinecones from a Christmas floral display repurposed into a winter arrangement for my dining room. It’s almost time to put them away though, as I consider the beginning of March to be the start of Springtime (at least here in Texas).
Well, I made it through the first full week of my new schedule. It’s exhausting, yes. But it’s also kind of rewarding when I hit the pillow at night and realize just how much I accomplished that day. As long as I can close my eyes to the pile of laundry that’s almost as tall as I am.
1>> I have been eating terribly as of late. The only way I know how to eat quickly and on-the-go (which is what I need right now) is the dollar menu at McDonald’s, canned soups for lunch, pieces of toast slathered in Nutella, and frozen corn dogs. I know. It has to stop. So please, help me. What are your favorite easy, healthy foods that can be made ahead of time or quickly made and consumed while putting on your shoes or hammering away on your laptop? My muffin top thanks you in advance.
2>> Michael and I will probably go see The Vow this weekend. I think you can guess whose idea that was. Actually, it was his idea, but only because I get all Weepy McWeeperson every time I see the commercial/trailer. I guess I looked at him with my silently pleading, glistening eyes enough times, because he texted me today asking me to go on a date with him to see it this weekend. And please don’t tell me that it sucks. It stars Rachel McAdams. It can’t be that bad. I mean, she was in a coma and then she wakes up to find a man telling her “I will do whatever I have to in order to win back your love, including being completely and unrealistically romantic in ways a straight man can’t even imagine.” I’m not 100% certain that’s a direct quote from the movie, but it’s close. I will love it.
3>> Is anyone else watching Project Runway? I avoided it until recently (no real reason, I simply wasn’t interested, not sure why), but I’ve been watching the All-Stars season and am HOOKED. Why can’t I create couture clothing with items found at a dollar store? The creativity of the designers blows my mind. If you’re not watching it and you have any interest whatsoever in clothing and design, start watching. It’s better than Top Model, in my opinion.
4>> Speaking of TV, my love for Ina Garten rages on. However, just as intensely as I love Ina, I despise Giada. What is up with her and her cleavage all over the place!?! And her giant teeth?!? Surely she’s not eating the food she makes, right??? How does she do it and stay so skinny?!! These are the things that keep me up at night. (Actually, not much keeps me up at night. You know, two jobs and all.)
5>> I’m currently reading Two for the Dough (the second book in the One for the Money series) and MWF Seeking BFF (the book, not the blog). It’s inspiring me to become a bounty hunter who hunts down new friends. While I was reading One for the Money, I totally had deja vu and realized that my babysitter read those books when I was a kid. I had thought, because of the Katherine Heigl movie, that they were new books. Nope, the first one was published in 1994. I thought that was pretty cool/interesting. What are you reading? I’m always looking for good recommendations to put on my Kindle and then never have the time to finish. I kid, I kid.
That’s it for me this week. I’m looking forward to a weekend of relaxing, grocery shopping, catching up on laundry, and sleep. Let’s not forget the sleep.
Happy Friday!

Also, have you considered trying the cook in advance route again? Maybe not for the entire MONTH but at least for the week, if not two? That would definitely help. Get Michael involved and make it fun!
From Chelsea:
How do you have time to read?
From sarahdotcom:
The Vow! I saw it on Valentine’s Day, and while it wasn’t my favourite movie ever, it was nice. And if the trailer is making you weepy, you’ll certainly enjoy. Have the loveliest date :)
From Mary:
I originally read like the first 10 Stephanie Plum novels when I was studying abroad in Spain in 2005 and LOVED them. I’m not sure how I feel about Katherine Heigl playing Stephanie though.
From Kathleen:
Tabaitha, you can also email them to me! :)
From Kathleen:
Also, Lauren, at night I put oatmeal + brown sugar in a tupperware, then in the morning I just add water (or milk) and heat it for a couple of minutes. Since it’s not in a regular bowl I can eat it on the go.
Now if someone can just inject me with the cooking gene so I can get my lunches & dinners figured out!
From CookinwVictoria:
You should read the book ‘The Vow’ since the movie is based on the book. I personally have not read it and I will after I see the movie.
