{Yes, I collect tiny vintage dog figurines. What’s that? You’re not surprised? #crazydoglady}
1. Lately the disorganization that exists on my computer, especially with my photos, has been bumming me out. (Related question: Do people still say things are bumming them out?) However, I don’t really know how I am supposed to organize them, because each time I go to sort through them I get sucked into the vortex of looking at old pictures, which is equal parts hilarious, nostalgic, and depressing. I think you all know what I’m talking about. I would like to delete every photo from when I was 13-15. Then select photos from 16-19. After that, I guess we’re okay. Although sometimes I’ll look at photos from last year and say, “WHAT WAS I THINKING?” But the nostalgia is the most overwhelming. When you’re young, you think 18 years at home is FOREVER. 4 years for college is FOREVER. Guess what? It’s not. Those years fly by. I’m sure that someday soon, I’ll look back on this time in my life the same way. Which is why I am trying to live in the moment in 2012.
(Whoa, that was weird. I went from talking about photo organization to all carpe diem, y’all! Someone stop me while I’m ahead.)
2. No, but seriously. Suggestions for organizing my photos? It’s getting out of hand.
3. Speaking of photos, I hate and avoid using my camera. I think it’s too complex for me. A) Does anyone want to buy it? It’s the Canon PowerShot SX120 IS. It’s a great little camera, with a lot more functionality than a regular P&S (in my opinion). Which is why I need to sell it and get another, more low maintenance one. I was ambitious when I bought it, thinking it would be my stepping stone to a big girl (read: DSLR) camera. Because if you can’t take photos with a P&S, you should totally plan to buy a camera that costs more than your car. Anyway, if you’re interested, it’s practically new, I’ll throw in the case and memory card, and make you a heck of a deal. Email me for more info: laurenfromtexas(at)gmail(dot)com. B) Does anyone know of a VERY, VERY simple P&S that takes good photos? Or a website that can teach me how to use a P&S effectively? Taking iPhone photos for the rest of my life is not going to cut it.
4. Also speaking of photos (I swear I didn’t mean for this post to be all about photos), WHY IS PICNIK CLOSING!?! It was my favorite thing ever. The website says “Picnik is moving its easy yet powerful photo editing tools to Google+.” What does that MEAN? There are people who are still using Google+? Who are these people? I thought we abandoned that ship awhile ago.
5. This weekend, I really don’t have anywhere to go or anything specific to do. (This is not a lie, so don’t expect me to show up knocking on your front door this afternoon. Probably.) I love it. I’m making myself a reasonable to-do list, cooking a couple of meals, and possibly checking out the new thrift store in town. I should probably clean my house too. Have I mentioned I hate cleaning my house? I turn into this OCD person and before I know it I’m 7 hours into a job that should have taken 2, and I’m on my hands and knees scrubbing my baseboards with a toothbrush. Maybe I can rein in the crazy long enough to get some dusting done. There are dust bunnies floating around this house that are bigger than Pancho. Just keeping it real, y’all.
Well, I said “y’all” twice and rambled incessantly! My job here is done. Happy weekend!

Comments on 5 Things on a Friday {round 15}
From Marlena:
I think you should do a weekly weekend tour and just show up on random doorsteps. Like that cooking show. Yep, you’re going to make millions. You’re welcome.
From Jen:
My P&S is a Samsung something or other, but I really like it. It even has a front-facing camera … which, of course, is awesome.
But, seriously, you should just break down and buy a Canon Rebel DSLR. It’s relatively inexpensive, and ridiculously easy to use.
Except for the whole I-haven’t-learned-how-to-use-it-yet thing.
I’m clearly treating your comments section as my own blog. Sorry. Have fun cleaning!!!
From Suburban Sweetheart:
I’m really frustrated by Picnik’s closing. I DON’T WANT TO USE GOOGLE+. Like, does this mean I have to POST my pictures there? I use it for blog stuff! DO NOT WANT! Why hasn’t the Internet started a massive uproar in protest of this?
I still say “bumming me out.” And “bummer,” which a lot of people make fun of me for. Which bums me out.
From Katherine:
I wish I could come this weekend :(
From trista:
I’m very OCD when it comes to my pictures (what am I saying, I’m OCD about everything). I always sort my photos in folders by year and then sub folders like “b’s wedding, trip to sydney, blah blah blah.” That way if I have a pretty good idea when it was, it’s easier to narrow down b/c they’re divided up in years. Just how I do it! :)
I use a Nikon P+S (it’s one of the cool pix ones or something?!) I mess w/ the setting sometimes but most of the time I just put it on automatic and it takes great pictures. Easy peasy. :)
From Jess:
My Rebel is way too much camera for me and it intimidates me so I rarely use it. Pretty stupid.
Picnik leaving is so lame! Stupid Google and all their changes. Did you see their privacy changes?
From Julie:
I know what you mean about 4 years of college being FOREVER. I’ve been at Moody 4 yrs as a student getting a degree and another 4 years as a full time employee. I can’t tell you how many times I have thought this year, “Man, if I had stayed in school I could have had another BA or at least a Masters.” Some students I graduated with did just that and now they are coming back to Moody as professors! Now that makes me feel like a slacker. I am still a receptionist and my fellow peers are now credible enough to be teaching college level classes. How did that happen?
P.S. I never take or print pictures. Have I mentioned that I still, to this day, do not even have one wedding or engagement photo printed? Bad. I know.
From Jill:
I sort my pictures by date (in folders) and then sub folders depending on event. This works most of the time….but I’m awful about printing them or actually doing anything with them!!!! ugh.
