5 Things on a Friday {round 7}

5 Things on a Friday {round 7}

1. I got my hair done on Wednesday. I told her to “do the same thing she did last time”…and wow. Holy blonde. I like it but every time I look in the mirror I get a little surprised. I think I’ll leave it at this for a couple of months, and then maybe throw in some lowlights for fall.

2. My house still looks like a tornado hit. I have been EXHAUSTED all week. Basically I come home from work, move some stuff around (I even got ambitious and unpacked some boxes on Tuesday night), and then collapse on the couch. This weekend will be full of cleaning and unpacking. I want to be at least 90% done by Sunday evening. I guess we’ll see what happens. When you work full-time, it’s really hard to get stuff done on weeknights. Am I the only one who has this problem?

3. Did you have the Barbie who had hinges on all of her joints and a super-cool work-out outfit? Workin’ Out Barbie? Remember how she came with that pink cassette tape? NO? JUST ME? I have had that dang Workin’ Out Barbie song stuck in my head off-and-on for the past week. Don’t ask me why. Maybe it’s the hair? Anyway, I texted my sister this morning to see if she remembered the song. She didn’t at first, but then she did, because she’s awesome. Then I found the song on YouTube. Oh, Internet, how I love you. Have a listen for yourself. (“Smooth moves!”)

4. Even though my house is a wreck, I really love it. I feel like there is so much space. The kitchen is my favorite room in the house (maybe because it’s the only one that’s in working order at this point?). I love the feeling that it’s mine, talking about paint colors with Michael, and knowing that this house symbolizes the start of a new chapter in our life.

5. Speaking of a new chapter, I’m registered for classes! I’ll be taking: Intro to Counseling, Multicultural Counseling, Family Counseling, and Theories of Counseling. I know almost everyone probably thinks I’m crazy, but I am ridiculously excited to get back into school. Reading, writing papers, doing research, going to class…these are a few of my favorite things. I know. HUGE NERD. If you need me, I’ll be over here with my coke-bottle glasses and pocket protector.

Have a great weekend! Hopefully by next week I’ll have a sneak peek of the new abode, sans boxes and the it-looks-like-a-bomb-went-off mess. Wish me luck!

  1. From Tabaitha:

I had that barbie and cassette tape. This is probably sad to admit, I still have the tape. I have all the cassette tapes I ever owned, but no player. I haven’t thought about that in a long time. Thanks for the flashback.

  2. From elizalouise.bell:

I love looking at old commercials of toys I used to have. I remember that Barbie. Congrats on classes and grad school!!

  3. From Katherine:

You! Me! Workin out, workin out Barbie, yeah!

  4. From Jennifer Leible:

I completely know what you mean with working full time and never being able to accomplish much weekday evenings. After cooking dinner and doing dishes you barely have time to relax, much less unpack or other responsibilities!
I never had the Workout Barbie but I’m lovin the song! Lol! I had the long hair barbie with floor length hair…why did I think that was so cool? :/

  5. From Mary:

You are definitely NOT the only one who can’t get anything productive done on weeknights. I pretty much want to go to bed at 9pm every day.

  6. From Liz:

You’re so stinkin pretty, Lorena. Love your golden locks!
And I can’t wait to see pics of the inside of your casa.

Spanglish comment brought to you by Seriosa Liz.

  7. From Ali:

I’m excited for you to go back to school & totally don’t think you’re weird for being excited. Im always really excited to get back into the swing off things too (until after the 1st paper & then I’m done).

  8. From Jen:

First of all, love the hair!

Second, I didn’t have Workin’ Out Barbie (I had the gymnast Barbie that had the moveable joints), but I definitely had the Dance Workout with Barbie VHS … and I can totally still do all the moves by heart.

  9. From CookinwVictoria:

Ahhhhhhh that’s so much fun!!!! And no you are not the only crazy one for thinking you have no time on week nights, I feel the same way!!! So don’t worry! I’m so excited about the house! I do not remember Workin’ out barbie lol sorry, I watched the video and nada. :(

  10. From Jill:

The puppies are adorable, your hair is amazing, and no, you’re not crazy–I can hardly get anything done on a weeknight either! I try to go workout and sometimes, SOMETIMES, do a load of laundry. Then leave it to be folded till the weekend.

  11. From abby:

HOLY BLONDE lol!! No seriously it looks amazing. And I don’t remember that Barbie, but I remember the cassette tape? So confused…

  12. From abby:

I should mention I DID have Western Fun Barbie though… those pink cowboy boots were deceptively difficult to put on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X96RX3cnV7Q

  13. From Stephany:

One of my only memories of preschool was going into this big open room with all the other little girls and our teachers and doing a workout with Barbie. It was so awesome.

    You are ridiculously pretty. Gosh.

  14. From sarah marie p:

That’s so awesome you’re so pumped about going back to school, writing papers, etc! I meant to leave a comment on a previous post — but a big congrats on getting into grad school! And your new super cute house! Such exciting stuff!
