While I’ve been scarce around the blogosphere, things have been Large & In Charge IRL.
Here are some of the fun things I’ve been up to:
♡ Going super-blonde for the summer.
♡ Flying to Chicago to see my BFF Julie get married! ✈
And now for the BIG things:
★ Taking the GRE (and ROCKING it!)
★ Applying to graduate school.
★ HOUSE HUNTING…and getting a contract on one!
Yes, I realize these items are huge. And I realize I’ve been withholding information. Y’all don’t know how hard it’s been for me to keep these secrets! I guess that explains the silence here…well, that, and the being SO INCREDIBLY BUSY I can’t even see straight. It’s been nothing but work, studying, house hunting, getting ready for Julie’s wedding/traveling, applying for school, taking the GRE, talking to my boss to make sure everything was going to work (another reason I didn’t announce anything just yet), and now filling out paperwork to BUY A HOUSE.
I know y’all probably have tons of questions (believe me, I do too!) so I’ll try to answer some of the ones I think will be FAQ.
Home
We will stay in our current town, but we will be moving to a different home. The reason we decided to buy a house was because we realized that a mortgage would actually be less than rent, and we’d be investing into a house we can rent out to college kids when we’re both done with school and it’s time for us to move on. Since we’ll be here for 2 more years at least, it made the most sense to us.
School
If all goes according to plan and I am accepted, I will be attending the same school as Michael, beginning this fall. The name of the program to which I will be applying: clinical mental health counseling. This might come as a shock to a lot of people who know me IRL, but I know that my long-time blog readers will understand exactly where I am coming from. I had always thought that if I ever went back to school, it would be for English or Creative Writing. I’ll have to write the whole story about how I arrived to this conclusion, but just know that I have not been this excited about anything in a long time, and that it finally feels like I am on the right path to pursuing my dreams, as cheesy as that sounds.
Work
I will still be working at the hotel, part-time at the very least. Not only do we need the money, but I love my job and the people I work with/for too much to leave them in the lurch. It’s really a win-win situation all around.
It’s been so hard to not write about the hot pink, neon-flashing elephant in the room, so I’m glad he’s out of the bag and things can get back to normal, whatever that means. If you still have questions, feel free to fire away, and I’ll get to them as soon as I can. Thanks for reading and coming along on this ride with me. Sit tight, it’s going to be a bit bumpy in the next couple of months, but I for one cannot wait!
