"That’s a toe pick, not a tooth pick."

"That’s a toe pick, not a tooth pick."

I don’t even want to tell you how many times I’ve sat down to write this post and not been able to finish it. Let’s just say: I fully intended to post it Monday, right after the weekend I’m writing about took place.

My sister came to visit last weekend, and we had the best time. Friday night, a couple of my friends from work came over, and we had a lot of fun. We ended the night with a game of Scrabble, but were a little lenient on the rules, allowing “alternate spellings” such as “LEAKIE” and “FANGZ.”

Saturday morning, we went to the hotel. After breakfast burritos and caramel mochas on the patio, I gave her the grand tour of the place. Then we walked around downtown and did a little shopping, visiting the tiny art museum, my favorite second-hand store, and a couple of antique shops. We stopped at the bakery for a macaroon, then onto some errands and lunch. While running errands, we found the cutest dachshund puppies, and Katherine almost brought the most precious speckled one back with her. Next, it was time for a break on the deck of a coffee shop, where we had an Arnold Palmer and Italian soda, respectively. Then back to my house for DIY mani-pedis in my driveway, a movie, and homemade grilled chicken pitas for dinner.

The next morning, we got up and went for a run, then had breakfast and tea on the porch. Afterwards, we headed to the store for the Laying Out Essentials, which include (but are not limited to): celebrity magazines and Pringles. We packed up and drove out to the lake, where we basked in the glorious sunshine for a few hours and caught up on all the celebrity gossip.

Katherine: “Why do I keep seeing Kate Middleton everywhere?

Me: “Well, she is marrying Prince William.”

Katherine: “Why do we care?”

Me: “Well, it is a British royal wedding.”

Katherine: “Yes, but we’re AMERICAN.”

The rest of the afternoon consisted of ice cream sandwiches, reality television, and a steak dinner. Pretty much the perfect weekend, in my opinion.

I love my sister and wish we didn’t have to drive so far to see each other. I do know, however, that living apart has made us appreciate each other all the more, and makes every time we do get to spend time together that much more special.

I can’t believe it’s already Friday again! And it’s a Good One too. Happy weekend; Happy Easter! <3

So cute. Every time people write about their sibs, I confess to getting a little bit jealous, or at least wistful. Sometimes I wish I had one!

Sounds like a fun weekend! You probably get this all the time, but you and your sis look so much alike! You’re like opposite twinsies – brunette/brown eyes, blonde/blue eyes! I can relate to getting that comment a lot, except we’re not opposite twinsies and get mistaken for twins all the time.
