(I know, I have pretty much the most awesome editing skillz in the entire world.)
This week has been nuts. I’ve been working crazy hours and also dealing with allergies and sinus issues. When I’m not working, I’m in a benadryl-induced coma trying to rest up and stop feeling so crappy. Oh, Spring. I forgot how wonderful and treacherous you can be.
1. I wish I had time to blog all the cute professional clothes my mom bought me for my birthday. But since I can barely seem to get up in enough time to get ready and leave for work, the clothes-blogging thing will have to remain on my list of “things I wish I could do on my blog but never seem to be able to get around to.” Also looking for a shorter list title.
2. My job can be so stressful at times. I had an event last week that was 700+ people! However, the joy it brings to my life is well worth the stress. I have tons of fun, sometimes get to sample wine at my desk, and love the people I work with. I also get to witness some pretty hilarious things. Like last week. A groom came in because his bride had booked the hotel for their wedding, and he wanted to see it for himself. I wanted to look them up in our computer so I could see what room she had booked for the reception. So I asked him what I thought was an easy question: What’s the bride’s last name? He started to spell it, stopped, changed his mind, and started to spell it another way. So I crossed out and rewrote and tried not to look skeptical. After three times of doing this, he finally looked it up in his phone and gave me the correct spelling. Then he said, “I always get in trouble for that.” UM, YA THINK?
3. I have decided to go back to blonde for the summer. So I am currently in the process of letting my red fade out, after which I will go get some heavy blonde highlights and work my way back to blonde. Right now, I am sporting faded red hair with mousey roots. Can this qualify as “Ombre Hair“?
4. Speaking of hair, the Generic Value Products line at Sally Beauty has changed my life. Hi, my name is Lauren, and I am was a hair product snob. I have historically spent way too much on products. Since my favorite hairspray of all time was rather expensive, have searched high and low for a hair spray that I love as much as Matrix Vavoom, all to no avail. The other day, I was in good old Sally, and noticed that GVP carries a generic of Matrix Vavoom, and it’s only $6. Too good to be true? Absolutely not. I love my generic hair spray so much, it’s one of my five things today. That’s saying a lot. Also, their generic version of Joico K-Pac deep conditioner is to die for.
5. And now it’s time for a story…so this morning, I was running with Leia in tow. I was in the home stretch, head down, “in the zone” so to speak. Suddenly I noticed that there was a car pulled up beside me, creeping along slowly, and the woman who was driving had her window rolled down. I stopped running, pulled out a headphone, and looked at her. She then began the most awkward 2 minute conversation of my life.
Her: “Hi. I’ve done a bit of running and I noticed that you seem to be bouncing a lot. Are you wearing a sports bra?”
Me: “Um, yeah?”
Her: “Well, you’re quite a bit larger than me, but I find that if I wear a padded bra under my sports bra that helps a lot. A sports bra will flatten you, but the padded bra helps with that.”
I kid you not, this happened. She said a few more things and even demonstrated with her own boobs the flattening and the support (I KID YOU NOT), then she drove away. What did I say, you ask? Nothing. I wish I had thought of a smart retort but I was too busy picking my jaw up off the ground to think of a clever comeback.
Well, that’s it! Hope everyone is doing well. I seriously miss blogging! Leave me a comment and let me know what’s going on in your side of the internet. And happy weekend. <3

Comments on 5 Things on a Friday {round 3}
From jackie s:
I feel like that could have been me in the car. I think I’m giving good advice, helping a sista’ out, but I probably would just come off reallly creepy. haha
From Kathleen:
That story is hilarious. And I miss you blogging! And tweeting! And emailing! I miss you.
From Jenni:
OH MY GOSH. I enjoyed all items on your list, but #5 is ASTONISHING. WTH lady?! Who does that???
Hilarious. Made my day.
From Suburban Sweetheart:
I would comment on 1-4, but I’m too stuck on 5 to think straight. GOOD GOD, THAT’S TERRIBLY AWKWARD.
From DottieDags:
That sounds extremely uncomfortable. And crazy. When you actually have a good set of boobage (and I do) sports bras are NOT going to prevent those things from bouncing. They do keep them from hurting (until they start to wear out) when you run and I suppose they also prevent you from knocking yourself out but the bounce factor? Not so much. I have packed mine in sports bras too small for me hoping to cut down on this but in the end, all I cut was my circulation.
From Victoria:
Oh my goodness that is absolutely HILARIOUS!!!!!! I wouldn’t have been able to come up with a clever comeback lol you always amuse me :)
From Tabaitha:
Definitely miss your blogging. I don’t know what I would have said to that lady. Hope you start to feel better soon and to see a post on new clothes. Love clothes posts.
From Nora:
Aweosme editing skills, for sure!
That’s a hilarious story about the groom but also, super terrible that he couldn’t answer it.
What’s going on with me? Well, I’m moving in 72 days, I have an awesome dress giveaway up right now that I’m pretty sure is right up your alley and otherwise, things are status quo :) Have a fabulous weekend and I hope the allergies get better soon! xoxo
From abby:
oh.my.goodness. I’m not sure what I would have done other than stand there staring at her! That is so crazy. I’m sure if someone watched me run they would worry the same thing. For as much as I strap ‘em in (with a flippin $65 sports bra that looks like a harness) things still move. :)
From Jenn:
OMG. The bra talk…AWKWARD!
From Tabaitha:
Btw, I just heard that today is National Awkward Moments Day. Maybe she was trying to partake in the activity.
From Sara:
Whoa. That bra story is hilarious. Who does that???
From Grace:
Wow. That woman has no tact. I really want to run to a beauty supply now to see about some generic products. Thanks for the heads up!
From Sensibly Sassy:
oh goodness gracious #5….it takes all kinds to make the world go round I guess
From Amy:
So many times I’ve been driving and seen a lady bouncing along and thought how painful it looked…but I would never stop the car and have the conversation!
Thank you for the Sally Beauty heads up. I used to love Joico K-Pac but have a hard time coughing up the dough for it.
From Stephany:
#5 is freaking hilarious. Awkward, yes. But hilarious. I couldn’t imagine actually stopping someone mid-run and talking about (AND DEMONSTRATING) about sports bra and boobs. Weird people.
From Jessica:
At least you *have* boobs to smash down. Just sayin :)
