New hair.

It’s been a big week. On Tuesday, I went to my hair appointment, & within 2 hours I had gone from bleached blonde to a dark reddish-brown. I posted the results on Twitter later that day & was blown over by all the positive feedback I received. To be honest, I was worried I was going to get a few “What did you do to yourself?!” comments, but none so far (yet). And while blonde is still his favorite hair color for me, Michael is really loving my new look.

A few people said I looked sad in the picture I posted; that’s not the case. I’m the type of person who takes a while to process things. When I snapped that shot, I was still in shock. It’s a big change to go through in one afternoon! I’m beginning to get used to it (i.e. no longer jumping when I see myself in the mirror) & learning to apply makeup a little differently so that it compliments my new look.

{It’s weird because I had shown the hairdresser the picture of Jessica Biel, & this is how she translated it. I love it, but it looks more like the ScarJo picture than anything, which is funny because I didn’t show her that one.}

I know all it seems I blog about anymore is my hair, but that will change soon. This week has been busy, & I’ve also been fighting some serious sinus issues since Wednesday. Last night was the worst, it felt like a large mammal was sitting on my face all night. I’m hoping the Neti Pot & some other things I’ve been trying will get me through. Let me know if you have any other tips for relieving sinus pressure (it would also be nice to breathe out of both nostrils at the same time).

Here’s hoping this weekend will be filled with miracle cures, lots of rest, & some good times. Because who says blondes get to have all the fun?

Comments on New hair.

  1. From CaL:

Well, darlin, I love it! & it makes me really consider trying on brown. Yikes! That would sure be a change, now I know why it took you a bit of adjusting. You’re gorgeous doll face!

  2. From Reen:

Jew rook berri pritteh. Very autumn-esque. Kind of makes me want to dye my hair a drastic color. <3 you.

  3. From Smile Steady:

I have to say, I was a little nervous for you, but I think it looks great! Really! I did the whole blond to dark brown thing a few years ago and was scared to death, but I’m still brown. I bet that red will fade quite a bit.

  4. From Thea:

Congrats on your leap into brunettedom! I think it looks great, although, I do prefer the blonde look … but, I’m kind of biased, so take that for whatever it’s worth (not much!) LOL

I love my short stint as a brunette it was fun to try something different and you look amazing in your after picture – a little stunned, sure, but a stunning stunned :D

  5. From Ashlee:

I LOVE IT. And once you realize how low-maintenance it is, I think you’re going to love it too. I went brunette in 2004 and never went back! ;)

  6. From mandy:

I love it! The color looks fantastic on you!

  7. From Blair@HeirtoBlair:

    You look GORGEOUS.

Nate asked me last night if I was going dark for fall. I wasn’t thinking about it, but you have inspired me.

  8. From ashleyd:

I love the new color! It looks awesome on you and will be perfect for fall/winter. :)

  9. From jess:

oh girl- seeing as i’ve lived through some severe hair colors, just a couple tips:

    1- you look stunning. yup.
2- blush/bronzer is your new bff. i was not aware of this the first time i went dark, and i look sickly in every picture from then.
3- the dark hair in the drain is yours. just because it’s darker doesnt make it any more gross.
4- since you started out so light, you’re right in saying it will fade quickly. i suggest talking to your colorist about any “quick fix” at home dyes… since you’ll be adding color to already colored hair, it should be easier than adding color to platinum.

i commend you on the bravery, lovee. have fun with it!

  10. From KT:

    Looks great!

  11. From San:

I remember you were saying that you wanted to gradually go from blond to brunette… and then, BAM, you went brunette in one day! I can imagine that must have been a shock at first, but to be honest, I really think you are a natural brunette! ;)

  12. From Suburban Sweetheart:

    Love ittttt.

  13. From Liz:

The last sentence of this post made my day ha.
    I love the new look!

  14. From Ashley:

I love the new hair! I was (unnaturally) blond for a long time and scared of going to my natural brown, but I’ve ended up really liking it. I think I’ll go lighter again eventually, just because I like changing my hair, but I enjoy being brunette for now.

    Have a great weekend!

  15. From Nora:

Anytime I make changes to my hair color it takes me forever to get used to it, even if it’s a shade away from before so i TOTALLY get it. I think you look fabulous. Enjoy the weekend and feel better soon. Sinus issues are the worst.

  16. From kristi:

I did the same thing a few months ago and I looooove it. You look freakin’ awesome!

  17. From Samantha:

I love your new look! Both hair colors are fitting for you, but the brunette look is beautiful and perfect for fall/winter!

Hope you have a great weekend :)

  18. From deiala:

Your new hair looks great! I have no idea who came up with this “blondes got all the fun”, but it’s definitely not true…

    Have a great weekend.

  19. From jaime:

I love that color — it’s perfect for fall! I’m considering going a bit darker myself, but have invested so much time/energy/money into lightening my naturally dark hair that I just can’t seem to make the leap.

  20. From Elizabeth:

I still love it–you look stunning, and it’s perfect for the fall. I hope you’ve had time to absorb it and fall in love!

  21. From laura:

I think it looks great, I love the color, very rich. Although I prefer you as a blonde, I’m jealous you can do that to your hair because I’ve always wanted that color but I was afraid to blend in, I’ve hidden behind my “blonde identity” for so long… but it looks striking on you… :)

  22. From jimaie.marie:

I get so jealous when people make amazing and stunning changes to their hair, I want to do something like that but what? haha! I guess I’m just stuck with the same hair for always but I do love seeing other people have fun with their hair so much! :D

  23. From hand-someone:

“two pee emm at sam houston computer lab…
/tick-tick-tick, away at the keyboard, her focus
/on syllables, rhyme, and verse. chipped nail polish
    /pink flecks fall between a’s and h’s and y’s…”

    dedicated to the new brunette.

  24. From lauryn:

I’m definitely loving the new look! That darker color is GORGEOUS on you!

  25. From Kate @ Undeniable Style:

I love it! your pouty face kind of reminds me of angela (aka claire danes) from my so called life. hehehe…hope you’re lovin’ it, too!

    xo,
    kate

  26. From Amy:

It looks awesome! You’re so lucky you can pull off two completely different looks so well :)

  27. From E.P.:

The new color looks beautiful! Nice work, and I’m totally impressed that you can pull off two completely different colors. (:
