These photos might be silly (& I never said I was a professional photographer), but I like them. Top to bottom: His & Hers cereal (because heaven forbid we keep it simple & like the same kind); OPI’s Sand in My Suit summery polish; a trip to the Farmers Market; The Pioneer Woman + my KitchenAid = a match made in heaven; one of my favorite summer dinners: homemade tacos! {I just realized that 4/5 of my pictures are related to food in some way. I make no apologies.} For more pictures & to keep up with my Project 365, see my Flickr.
Friday night was all about going to see Inception, not eating dinner beforehand, eating too much popcorn, almost passing out from the combination of hunger + the movie blowing our minds, & going through the Burger King drive-thru on the way home. “I guess this means we’re officially in college,” I said to Michael as I bit into my Whopper Jr. at 10:30 at night. I like to think that we’re both in college, but he’s the one going to class & I’m just here for moral support. It’s a joint effort, people.
Saturday was about the Farmers Market (fresh peaches & Texas smoked Gouda), thrifting adventures, a huge grocery shopping trip that lasted for a couple of hours (since we haven’t been home, we were out of everything), a new sandwich recipe (hopefully blogged later this week), a luxurious husband massage (my favorite!), A Few Good Men (see Project 365 for more details), & cocktails.
Sunday was about visiting a new church, making breakfast at home, cleaning, iChat with my new friend, making homemade pizza dough for later this week & homemade tacos for dinner, going over some things with Michael & making some choices, which included canceling our satellite TV (for now). With Michael in school, we don’t need the distraction & cost, but I have to be honest, it’s going to take some getting used to. However, we plan on getting Netflix, & we are keeping our Blockbuster membership ($12/month = 1 movie through the mail at a time + 5 free in-store exchanges, so we can still get those new releases as they come out), so it might be easier than we think. I’ll keep you posted.
So much more to say but it can wait for later in the week. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I can’t believe it’s already Monday. Hold me.

i’m totally thinking about doing the same thing…we have satellite and since we hooked netflix up through our wii last week I haven’t watched tv since. I am noticing that all my favorite shows are available online so if I can figure out how to hook up my tv to my computer I think I’m doing it. I’m scared but it’ll save us $80 a month and we are about to have a new car payment…eek.

We haven’t had a TV in three years. Thanks to Netflix & Hulu we enjoy delightful shows like Glee, Friday Night Lights, Fringe, Chuck, Community… (the list goes on), all on the computer. Now, a giant flatscreen for all this will be awesome at some point, but cable would only be good if you could pay for the channels you WANTED. Joshua tells me it’s going to happen someday.
It was lovely talking with you yesterday, Lauren!

-Was the pizza dough easy to make? I’m all about easy these days.
-Smoked Gouda?? You’re killing me!
-Now I want tacos.
-I love you and miss you.
-I want a yellow kitchen.

I want to see what the nail polish colour looks like on! Snap some pics :)
AND you’re going to *love* Netflix. I’ll add you as a friend on there so we can compare queues! Just don’t make fun of my Spice World selection ;)

When we got married we both had to have full time jobs & began feeling like an old couple because we never went out late. Now hubs is about to start school & had to get a job to accommodate his schedule. Anyways he doesn’t go in till noon and since I’m an insomniac anyways we’ve been acting young again making midnight runs for ice cream and seeing late showings of movies lol it’s kinda fun to act not so grown up for a while.
Nora says:
the tacos look delicious! I’m coming over :)
And on the Netflix thing: it’s the best invention ever. I lived without cable for over three years and only on Netflix. With all the TV shows and movies they have, it’s easy to not miss traditional ridiculous TV (besides, who needs all those channels!?) and only have the basic channels.
Laurie says:
Loving the nail polish color! I agree with Liz… snap some pics so we can see what it looks like. I’m in love with neutrals this summer. Side note, I should delve into the Netflix thing myself but can’t seem to get into it yet. Gave up my HBO and Showtime a few months ago and desperately missing my movies. Let me know how it goes!

Man, I’m so jealous of your Farmer’s Market! I thought it would be a grand adventure to take the children to our local FM a couple of weeks ago. Got there only to discover that it was 3 WHOLE tables. Underwhelmed is the only word I have to describe. Also, email me- I have some friends at a local church there…

I’m love loving your Project 365! Such a fantastic idea – I’m really going to have to get started myself sometime soon :)
We are totally tv people – I mean, I’d be fine if I just had to watch tv shows online, but it is the local news & sports that I really would hate to go without. Cable is included in our rent (as in, the landlords illegally ran an extra cable line to our living room – bless their souls) so thankfully the ‘tube isn’t costing us anything right now anyhow :) Good luck though – I’m sure you two will get along just fiiiiine without it – plus I think it is a GREAT idea in terms of getting rid of a distraction!

I love the kitchenaid! My kitchenaid is one of my favorite items ever. I would be all for getting rid of cable. I try not to watch that much tv and am fairly certain I could live without it. Also I think I was talked into Netflix over the weekend.
Joe says:
I actually love that picture of the nail polish, the way the light is hitting the textured lid is pretty cool.
And I just got Netflix and am streaming it through my Wii…it’s overwhelming having all these choices at my disposal. I watched one episode of Weeds and walked away because I couldn’t make a decision on anything else.
Kyla Roma says:
Love your new nail polish- and we’re FINALLY getting netflix in Canada this year!! SO exciting :)
I think we should have an ichat date soon. Just saying! :)
lauryn says:
Looks like a fun weekend! I haven’t tried any recipes from the Pioneer Woman’s cookbook yet. I definitely have Kitchenaid Mixer envy over here :)
Do you guys have an xBox, Playstation or Blu-Ray player? Streaming Netflix through one of those is almost like having TV!
Mae says:
1. Totes jealous of your red KitchenAid. Mine is white. I would bet cash money your food tastes better than mine because of the red sassafrass your machine MUST impart. MUST.
2. We killed cable two months ago and have not missed it for even one moment. We have Netflix (2 discs at a time, unlimited discs per month and unlimited on demand online viewing – $14.99) and a digital antenna or rabbit ears if you will. I promise, you will grow to love the freedom. And the money. Just think of the nail polish possibilities!
3. I have kitchen door envy. I know I know it’s not your favorite house and it’s a rental and you don’t have a dishwasher but can I just say…. I would love a kitchen door like that. There’s something so very homey about a kitchen door. Especially one with what looks to be an adorable little curtain. Just sayin.
3. Homemade tacos and farmers market cheese are some of the bestest things about summer.
