Stuck.

I love my husband because he is stuck on me. Or maybe he’s just stuck with me. Either way, he is much sweeter to me than I deserve and never fails to make me smile or laugh. Here are some reasons why I am a lucky girl (this list is not exhaustive).

No matter how many crappy movies I make him watch, he still lets me choose what movie we’re watching. Maybe he keeps hoping that my taste and judgement will improve and one day I will choose a winner (it hasn’t happened in awhile). Granted, he will moan and groan the entire time, but still he lets me choose.

He will literally eat anything I give him. He will be shaking his head no, or saying, “I don’t want any,” but if I put a spoon in front of his mouth, it pops right open and down the hatch it goes.

He is just cocky enough to think he could outrun a bear. Corlene and I spotted a black bear during our legendary 6-hour drive, and we were telling him about it. He was completely convinced that he could outrun a bear. Corlene: “NO you COULDN’T!” Michael: “I am a fast white boy!” While they were going back and forth, I googled “How fast can a bear run?” on my iPhone and the case was promptly closed (30-40 mph – WOW!). But it was cute that, for about 5 minutes, he was totally convinced that he could outrun a bear.

When I got home from Canada, I asked him how he did as far as food goes. You know, what did he eat and how did he make it without me, and do the people at Jack in the Box know him on a first name basis? He informed me that he had eaten at home a lot, including “that chicken I had in the freezer.” Weird, I didn’t think I had any chicken in the freezer. I asked him, what chicken? and he said, “You know, those big chicken nuggets.” Finally it dawns on me – that wasn’t chicken, that was fish. They were fish sticks, but in more of a nugget shape. And there were a lot of them. Bless his heart, he ate almost a whole box of fish nuggets, thinking he was eating chicken. (Am I the only one alarmed by the term “fish nuggets”? Moving on.)

He mixes metaphors (he gets it from his mom). The other day he prefaced a redundant sentence with, “Not to beat the bush…”

He also has mad Twitter skills. Listen, I love Twitter. I have been tweeting for over a year now. Michael has had an account for awhile, but never used it. The other day, he decided that, since I like it so much, he was going to start tweeting. He was doing pretty good, for the most part – until yesterday morning. On the way to work, I was checking my Twitter, and I saw this: a tweet from the past.

Tweet From The Past

I was confused. According to my twitter (and memory), I had made kebabs the night before. Why would I be making them at 10am? On my way to work? And why would my husband be tweeting about it? So I called him.

Me: “Did you just tweet about the kebabs?”

Him: “Yeah.”

Me: “You realize you said ‘currently’ but you tweeted about something that happened last night?”

Him: “Yes. I wanted to tweet about it last night, but I forgot. So I did it this morning.”

And then The Internet cried a little.

He is also very into fitness – lately, he is obsessed with cycling. Yesterday morning, he came into the bathroom wearing something that looked like this:

Apparently it’s called a “cycling bib.” That’s a fancy name for “Crazy Spandex Outfit.” I collapsed with laughter and told him he looked like he should be headed to work at Chippendale’s. Later, I saw this little jewel:

Biker Stripper.

It’s also pretty cute that, when he lost his favorite sunglasses, he busted out the sunglasses he bought on a ski trip when he was 15, sunglasses that have silver frames and orange lenses. So he basically left the house looking like a Biker/Pimp(/Stripper).

BallerBaller.

But most of all, I am a lucky girl because of this:

My boys.

… and this:

Love.
I love you babe. Thanks for letting me blog about you (not like you really had a choice).

So sweet! I love that he wanted to get on Twitter because you like it so much. I recently had to set up my Husband’s Facebook account. Talk about making the Internet cry…

This is the cutest, sweetest post I’ve ever read. Made me smile and laugh a little the entire time. You’re definitely a lucky girl, nuff said. Oh, and p.s. – you’re an AMAZING writer Lauren!

  3. From Chelsea:

    Yay Michael!

Okay so I’m a Twitter hater but I can get on board with yalls Twitter love if he takes back the comment about no more girl’s nights. That’s unacceptable.

Fish nuggets makes me cry a little bit.

I am currently on my way to your house to hang out. (I know I’ll feel like telling all of your readers about it when the time comes. But in case I forget, I’ll post it now.)

  4. From Cio:

Ha this is funny! I loved the post! I’ve written several like this about my husband myself (and he gets pretty creative with his “sweetness”). It’s on my blog under the “love” label, if you’re ever bored!)

    Lauren,

Thanks for stopping by my blog! You asked who designed my blog. Well, the background is from Shabbyblogs.com and I made my header (cartoon me and all) myself. I got my fonts, and the instructions on how to make my titles and stuff from http://www.kevinandamanda.com/fonts/. What else is a SAHM with a degree in graphic design to do? I get bored! LOL

  12. From Meg:

This is too cute! And you are not the only one disturbed by fish nuggets… Found you on 20sb!

  13. From Helene:

Stopping by from SITS! This is the sweetest post…he sounds like a wonderful hubby! I love that he uses Twitter! I just finally got my hubby to join Facebook and he’s still trying to figure that one out. I’m starting to lose hope that he’ll ever be on Twitter! I said to him, “We could keep in touch with one another all day long” and he said “Well, I could just call you all day long and we could touch base that way”. I didn’t know what to say…”Um, sweetie, the whole point is that I wouldn’t HAVE to talk to you, which would take my attention away from the kids….we could just keep in touch via Twitter, kwim?”. He looked at me as if I was nuts.

Anyway, beautiful pictures….I love the wedding pic!!! Gorgeous!

In regards to marriage I have only heard horror stories and warnings. Thank goodness somebody has something good to say about marriage; it leaves a person with a sense of hope.

I’m just starting to get caught up on your posts after returning to the blogging world. First, I love that I just read Chelsea’s “Bless My Heart” post and you used “bless his heart” in this post. Pefect! I wouldn’t have noticed it had I read this when you posted it a few weeks ago :)

Also, I LOVE the last two photos. The second to last is adorable and the last one is — just wow!

  23. From Brittney:
