This little blog is 3 months old today. I don’t know what I was thinking that night 3 months ago when I blogged about a late period, my goals for this year, and Journey (yeah, the band), but I am glad I did. This has turned into one of the most rewarding parts of my life right now, and I can’t explain the feeling it gives me when people read (and comment on) things that I have written. One of my favorite things is when I don’t have to tell a story in real life, because whoever I am talking to “already saw it on my blog.” That might freak some people out – too intrusive or something – but I L-O-V-E it.
So here I am. 3 months, 29 blog posts (this is my 30th!), 226 comments, and 3548 views later. I can’t wait to watch it keep growing. And in keeping with true Lauren form, I decided I should compile a list to honor this momentous occasion. Here we go.
Top 10 Best Things That Have Happened To Me Since I Started LaurenFromTexas.com:
1. I met my blog friend, Chelsea, who is now a dear friend, both in the blog world and the real life world. (Sidenote: It’s her two year wedding anniversary today! Happy Anniversary, Chelsea & Stephen.)
2. I am actually exercising the things I learned in my creative writing classes in college – and it feels so good.
3. I have found some truly amazing people/blogs/writers.
4. …love Maegan has left me a few comments – she is a blog celebrity so it’s a big deal. I almost died the first time I saw that she had commented – I love her blog!
5. I have been able to share my stories with a bigger audience than normal – writing is my passion, it’s what I love. I write because I can’t help myself. And being able to share that with others? Amazing.
6. I have taken a small step (or maybe a giant leap) away from my crippling perfectionism and towards being more open, honest, and messy.
7. Likewise, I am also becoming more disciplined with my writing. If this is what I want to do, I need to DO it. How sad is a writer who doesn’t write? Very.
8. I have an outlet for all those crazy things that happen to me on a daily basis that I think, “I should write about that.” Now, I can.
9. Because I got the words “segway” and “segue” confused, and because my good friend and fellow English major Bryan picked up on that confusion, and because I then awarded him “Best Blog Editor” but “Worst Blog Updater” (since he hadn’t updated his blog since FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR), he graced the interwebs with this little gem.
10. My husband has totally gotten involved – he keeps up with my blog, and constantly says, “You should blog about this.” It’s added a fun dimension to our marriage.
Now, I have a whole new set of goals that revolve around this blog. They include (this list is not exhaustive):
1. Go to BlogHer ’10.
2. Hit 1000 comments, 15,000 views, and AT LEAST 120 posts (by April 28th, 2010 – my one year blogiversary).
3. Meet at least one blogger celebrity.
4. Do a huge giveaway (maybe for my 6 month blogiversary).
5. Buy a decent camera and post a ton more photos.
6. Build LaurenFromTexas.com into an actual website instead of just a WordPress blog (any designers want to help me out?).
7. Figure out a way to effectively track how many readers I have (again, anyone want to help me out?).
8. Meet a few more “regular” bloggers – who wants to meet up for coffee?!
9. Be even more personal – I am trying, but it is scary.
10. Review a product suggested/sent to me by someone (free stuff plz!).
So there you have it. For every goal that is not accomplished by April 28th, 2010, I will force myself to do something really unpleasant. Like the 30 Day Shred.
Happy Blogiversary, LaurenFromTexas.com.

Lauren, I just wanted to 1. Add to your comment count (thats one less until you reach 1000!) and 2. Let you know that I am a reader. Happy Blogiversary!! Good luck on achieving all of your goals – they’re very inspiring. :) Wish I lived closer to Texas – I could soooo go for a coffee!
From Sturgmom:
YAY for you! I would love to meet for coffee if I was closer, but Waco is, well, nowhere.
Those are great goals. I have none. And I’ve been blogging for over a year. So you’ve inspired me!
There are several bloggers I’d love to meet b/c they seem SO FUN! But unfortunately I don’t exist in their world, so that’s probably NOT going to happen. Who would you most like to meet?
