This weekend we have been staying at Michael’s aunt & uncle’s Tuscan villa-style home in Austin, Texas. It’s been a great trip – yesterday we lounged by the pool all day and went out for seafood for dinner. Today I am sleepily (and sunburned-edly) lounging in the guest room that overlooks some gorgeous hills.
Over the last couple of days, I have discovered a few things:
-Having drinks with your husband in a hotel lobby while pretending you don’t know each other and shamelessly flirting is REALLY REALLY FUN.
-I am never more conscious of my boobs than when I am wearing a swimsuit. Except maybe when Michael’s 2 year-old cousin barges in on me in my bra. OR sticks his hand down my shirt and loudly proclaims: “BUBBLES!” Yeah, maybe then.
-After working from home for the last year and three months, too much social interaction makes me tired. If they ever wanted to make a movie called “My Big Fat Mexican Wedding,” they should call up my husband’s side of the family. I am exhausted.
-When you forget to pack deodorant, you end up having to borrow your husband’s Speed Stick and smelling “Active Fresh.” Look honey, Armpit Twins!
-I could live on a diet of fresh fruit, chips & queso, sparkling wine, and chocolate cake. I mean, WHO COULDN’T?
-The only gumbo I like is my dad’s.
-I had forgotten how much I like my summer vacation clothes. (I need to do some shopping though. And, you know, some crunches.)
-I love my engagement ring. I usually wear my wedding band only unless I’m going out, but it hasn’t been off my finger all weekend.
-I really love my husband. I married this sexy, funny, sexy, goofy, lovable, sexy man after knowing him for barely nine months, and he has become my best friend. I love that we have a blast together, even if it’s just the two of us. Especially if it’s just the two of us. ♥
-Mat Kearney’s new CD is amazing.
-I miss Pancho, but it’s nice to have a break from The Other Dog. (OK OK I MISS HER TOO.)
-I’m ready to go home.
